JohnnieCake is a corn bread, made in a cake pan, with sugar!


2 Tbsp Crisco
2-3 Tbsp Bacon Grease
4 cups White Buttermilk Corn Meal, i use aunt jemima self rising
½ cup Sugar (i Acutally Use Splenda) Plus Additional, for covering over the top of the cake
3 cups Milk
2 Eggs, beaten


Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Heat fats in the hot oven in a sheet cake pan for about 3-5 minutes. Combine dry ingredients. Add milk and egg, mix until blended. Add the melted fats into the mixture and mix well. Pour mixture into the hot cake pan. Add additional sugar (or splenda) over the top. Bake 20 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
