This yellow cake uses butter and egg yolks to give it color, and the three layers add to its pretty appearance.

  • Servings: 3, 9-inch layers.

2 cups Sifted Cake Flour
1 cup Sugar
1 Tbsp Baking Powder
¼ tsp Salt
½ cup Butter, softened
⅔ cup Milk
2 tsp Vanilla
4 Egg Yolks

Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add butter and milk; beat with an electric mixer on low speed until combined. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add vanilla and egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Divide batter among 3 greased and floured 9x1 1/2-inch round baking pans and spread evenly. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks for 10 minutes. Remove cakes from pans. Cool completely on wire racks. If desired, freeze in self-sealing plastic bags until needed.
